When lifting and jeep to 4" or above the question of drive-line angles always comes up. I decided to use JB Conversion's Super Short S.Y.E. kit for this transfer case. "S.Y.E." is an acronym that stands for slip-yoke eliminator. The below transfer case is a stock NP231 out of a 1999 TJ.

Let's get started. Last pic is a quick measurement from the t-case mounting surface to the furthermost part of the tail-shaft.

Be sure to get a good pair of snap ring pliers. They are a must-have for a smooth removal of the two halves on the transfer case.

Take this opportunity to clean the magnet used to pick up any metal shavings and the fluid filter screen. Then go ahead and button everything up except for the speed sensor housing. You'll need a torque wrench capable of calculating up to 200ft/lb of torque for the main-shaft nut. Anything less will result in damage to the speed sensor and housing.
